Devotional 6/18

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5: 17

If we do not believe we are deeply indebted to God for all we have or hope to have, then we cannot be grateful at heart.

It’s one thing to be saved and be changed. There is a whole other aspect of being a new creation in Christ, and it is in the becoming of a new creation. Once we come to Christ, our hearts are changed we receive a supernatural and new heart.  This credit cannot be given to anyone or anything but to God. We can read the bible, and go to every single church service, and pray 10 hours a day and notice that we have not changed much. This happens to all of us do not be alarmed. When I came to Christ one of the first things God did for me was to melt my chained up heart. Literally, I felt the chains melt and I saw it in a vision as well. It was God’s doing I cannot take any credit for it, none. When He showed me the vision, He actually played Mariah Carey’s version of “I wanna know what Love is” to me, in His mysterious ways (started playing on my iPod by itself).

See for as long as I can remember, I had developed serious issues loving others and receiving their love, because of disappointments and disillusionment with the people in my life. I had bitterness and apathy inside of my heart, and God knew all of this while I DID NOT. Slowly but surely, I have become more open with allowing others to love on me and to express love. I am not where I hope to be, and it is a constant battle since people are rude and heartless, so I must remain in a constant state of forgiveness. This is what God did for me, 7 years ago He melted the chains which pressed by heart ad 2 weeks ago He delivered me from un-forgiveness.

But what about my desires, will I ever stop wanting to have sex? Will I ever hate drunkenness and parties? Will I ever hate watching boxing or action films with violence? God deals with our souls, first. God works from the inside out, if he wants you to stop doing something physically, he deals with what is in your heart which causes you to do it. I am not a know it all, and I definitely need a lot more of God and a lot of changing but I have learned these 4 things about God.

  • God does not take away fleshly desires, He teaches us to manage them.
  • God never changes your personality, He changes your character.
  • God uses times of temptation to test your will and your faith.
  • And God never gives you something of great value, until you show Him you can manage the little things.

If you aren’t evangelizing, you aren’t even praying much less interceding- should God give you Holy Ghost power? If you are seeking approval from people, or to prove to people that you are important, should God give you of His holy spirit gifts? Should God give you a wife or husband, if you cannot even respect your own body and exert no self control over your emotions? Should God give you your own place, if you do not manage money well? Why should God give you best friends, if you are not taking care of your current friends and disciples?

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, thank you for your consuming fire which purges everyday whether we realize or not. I am eternally grateful that the work you started in me, will continue until your return. I praise you because I have been fearfully and wonderfully made, I thank you for every deliverance and every word you have ever given me to water the seeds in my spirit. thank you for your promise to work in us until you return, may we see the harvest of your work. In Jesus name, Amen.
