Devotional 12/26

As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Romans‬ ‭10:11‬

Some people will not understand what the love of Christ compels you to do; do it anyway.

God calls each of us according to His own purposes, not because of goodness or how evil we were. The word says that He has mercy on whoever He wants to have mercy on, it’s a great mystery. We can’t figure God out, we must simply believe. This is why faith is so important!

The Lord is only pleased by faith, and because of our faith we yield to God’s Holy Spirit and His Word, which leads us to righteous living. As I thought of God’s goodness and sacrifice towards us, I was humbled to the fact that God calls us higher. It is by receiving His love, that we are compelled to live up to His call.

We can makes plans, because they prepare us for the future. Our plans should be flexible enough, to be changed or adjusted by the Lord. When we present them to the Lord we give Him the freedom to adjust the details or reroute us altogether. The Lord’s will can be similar to ours, or it could be completely different. But one thing is for sure, He gives us the ability and the love to do His will and to enjoy the journey.

The true issue with submitting our will to God, is whether we trust Him or not. He is kind to us if we trust in His kindness. But if we stop trusting Him, then He is just to judge us and even cut us off. God’s call is for those who answer: many are called, but few are chosen. And despite of the depth or length of time in relationship with Him: we can be cut off.

We received salvation by grace, we died in baptism to our old lives and we walk in His resurrection. Ultimately, we were given new lives to live. Will you accept God’s call? Will you accept His plan for your life, and set aside the details of your own will?

Let’s pray:

Father God today I pray according to Romans 15:13, I pray that you Lord, our source of hope, will fill each of us completely with joy and peace. May the trust we have in your be your open door to work your will into the details of our lives. I pray that we would overflow with confidence and hope in you, through the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
