Tuesday Word 7/30

As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 1 Samuel 18:1

The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.
Marcus Aurelius

What’s the big deal about soul ties? Are they real? Should I worry about it? For starters, we can have a soul tie with: friends, lovers, music, music artists and so many other things. There are also good and bad soul ties.

There are soul ties between parents and their children, siblings, and close friends. 1 Samuel says the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David and Jonathan loved him, as he loved his own soul. They shared a soul tie. Then, there are other soul ties which God never intended for us to make. Harmful soul ties contaminate your Spirit, open doors for Satan to enter your life and make you a slave to whatever sin was committed in the relationship.

A bad soul tie is intertwined with all wicked behavior: sin, division, iniquity, rebellion, pride and transgression.

  • Sin: not doing what you know you should do (the revealed will of God: scriptures).
  • Division: gossip, critique, envy, strife, etc.
  • Iniquity: hidden sin, a sin you have covered or are hiding.
  • Rebellion: resistance to authority (ultimately God): rooted in pride
  • Transgression: to violate a law or command (not concerning the will of God)

We must watch the company we keep, we have to see who we allow into our home, and care for the music and forms of entertainment we absorb. Jane and John Doe link up: they become lovers, or best friends, maybe they are family. John Doe; has a battle with addictions, while Jane Doe; has issues with bitterness. They opened up to each other, and shared some of their soul and a tie was made. When Jane smells ‘that’ cologne, she remembers John. And when John listens to certain songs, they reminds him of Jane. Jane who was never addicted to anything, begins to develop affections for self destructive behaviors like smoking or gambling addictions. And John begins to hold grudges for things he never considered in his past. It’s that their souls intertwined, it’s not learned behavior, memories, coping mechanisms, or lingering feelings: it’s the manifestation of a soul tie.

In the New Age lingo, the Spirit is termed: vibration, aura, energy, and so on. The Spirit is like perfume being infused into a room, and the soul is influenced by the spiritual. The Lord cares about our souls because if we have a healthy and whole soul, we can keep our Spirits clean and un-contaminated.

Testimony: I had to release my parents, so that God could renew and restore the soul ties between us.

How to break soul ties:

  • Repent: change your ways
  • Ask for and receive, God’s forgiveness
  • Renounce: if you need to release a friend, lover, family member, musician, genre of music or media
(note: this can be indefinitely or temporary)
  • Renew your mind with bible scriptures

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, thank you for your grace. Thank you for leading us into all Truth. We believe in the power of your might, your power to change mindsets and break chains. May you help us renew our belief system, and bring deliverance to our lives, from whatever residue could possibly remain in us. May you show us what or who we need to release to be free in the name of Jesus. I also pray that you illuminate and enlighten whatever dark areas in our lives or in our memories, which may be in our lives or in our memories that we may not understand. I pray for restoration and peace for every single soul reading. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
