Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ Isaiah 46: 9-10
The providence of God is like a Hebrew word—it can only be read backwards!
The Lord is in control of our lives and of the future. In His sovereignty, His providence and Imminence He has things predestined for us that we cannot even imagine. He knows ALL things, from beginning to end and end to beginning.
The Jews were dispersed around the world because of their disobedience against God. But their restoration was already in the mind of God: they would return to their homeland despite of their wrong choices and mistakes. He also decided who would do this for His people: Emperor Cyrus. The Lord had predestined he would favor the Jews, even though he was not a Hebrew. This man would subdue nations, and allow the Jews to return to their land.
The Lord spoke through the prophet Isaiah 150 years before Cyrus came into reign. This means that God had already set Him apart before he was even born and before his parents even came together!
Is there anything so difficult for God to do in your own life?
Trust in the Lord. and if He has declared something over your life He will also give you the will and desire to go for it (Phil.) and also work in your favor to establish it.
Father God we thank you for forming and setting us apart even from before the womb. Thank you for knowing our capacity. I ask you Lord to soften our hearts to be more sensitive to your leading. May you grow in our hearts and establish our paths. We give you all the glory and praise. In Jesus name, Amen.
